Nurses in Indian Army are inducted as officers and are called as Nursing Officers under Military Nursing Services. After their successful training, a nursing cadet gets the rank of lieutenant after training. So, the salary is the same as that of an officer in the Armed Forces. There are some changes related to their allowances, but the grade pay and the basic pay are the same.
Educational Qualification & Registration: Should have passed BSc (Nursing) or class 12th with PCBE (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English) with not less than 50% in Aggregate from any recognized University and be a registered Nurse and Midwife from a State Nursing Council.

Procedure of Selection for MNS ( Military Nursing Services)
(a) Written test: Only eligible candidates will be called for a written test to be conducted after 2-3 months of official notification. The written test of 100 marks will consist of objective type questions based on Nursing, English language and Gen intelligence. There is no negative marking. The OMR based evaluation of the answer sheets will be done at IHQ of MoD (Army). The result of successful shortlisted candidates will be declared online on the army website with the instructions for interview. Confirmation of the result will be the individual’s responsibility. The Office will not be responsible for informing the result individually to each candidate.
(b) Interview: A required number of shortlisted candidates of the written exam, in the order of merit will be called for interview at Delhi. This process will take at least 1-2 days.
(c) Medical examination: Only the candidates who have cleared the interview will be subjected to Medical Examination. Only the required number of shortlisted candidates who are pronounced medically fit in all respect will be sent the call letters to report to the various hospitals in Armed Forces. The decision of the Board for written test and interview will be final.
Candidates selected for grant of SSC in the MNS will be liable to serve for five years extendable to a total tenure of fourteen (5+5+4) years, anywhere in India in the same way as Military Nursing Service (Regular) Officers of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force).
No request will be taken on the choice of posting through any means in the first five years of service.
EMOLUMENTS
On completion of the pre-commissioning formalities, the candidates will be granted the rank of Lieutenant. The monthly Basic Pay will be Rs 15,600 + Grade Pay Rs 5,400/- + Military Service Pay- Rs 4,200/- + DA and other Allowance as per prevailing rates.
Entitled ration, accommodation and allied facilities will also be offered.
