AirBus-Tata Deal : Defense Ministry on Friday signed an agreement with Spain’s Airbus Defense and Space for a deal worth Rs 20,000 crore. Under this agreement, the Avro-748 aircraft of the Indian Air Force will be replaced with 56 C-295 medium transport aircraft. This long-pending purchase was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Defense two weeks ago.
Ratan Tata, Honorary Chairman, Tata Sons, said that the approval of the joint project between Airbus Defense and Tata Advanced Systems to build the C-295 is a major step towards opening up possibilities for aviation and avionics projects in India. Is. Under this deal, Airbus Defense and Space will deliver 16 ready-to-fly aircraft within 48 months from the date of signing of the agreement.
The remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured in India by a consortium of Airbus Defense and Space and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) within 10 years of the agreement. The C-295MW aircraft is a transport aircraft with a capacity of 5-10 tones.
