VS Pathania Appointed As Indian Coast Guard Additional Director General

Union Defense Ministry has appointed Virender Singh Pathania (VS Pathania) as the Additional Director General of the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters in the national capital Delhi. Pathania’s appointment order was issued by the government on Friday and he will take charge on September 30. The post was lying vacant for months after the previous officer took superannuation.

Pathania was earlier in-charge of the Eastern Seaboard of the force in Visakhapatnam. He has served the organization in various functions over the last three and a half decades. He has also held the charge of Deputy Director General Policy and Schemes at ICG Headquarters in New Delhi.

Pathania is an alumnus of National Defense College

An alumnus of Defense Services Staff College in Wellington and National Defense College in New Delhi, Pathania is also a skilled helicopter pilot. In addition, he also holds a Master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras. Pathania has also gained expertise in search and rescue and port operations from the US Coast Guard.
