India Innovation Index 2020 : Karnataka has retained its position as the most innovative/innovative head of state in the India Innovation Index 2020 released by NITI Aayog on 20 January 2021.
In this index, Karnataka achieved a score of 42.5, followed by Maharashtra with 38 points and Tamil Nadu stood at third place with 37.91 points. In this index, Bihar finished last with 14.5 points.
Among the northeast/hill states, Himachal Pradesh topped with a score of 25.06, followed by Uttarakhand and Manipur, while Meghalaya was ranked last with a score of 12.15. Delhi topped the Union / Urban States with a total score of 46.60, followed by Chandigarh and Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep with 11.71 scores topped the index.
The India Innovation Index was released by Dr Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, in a virtual event in the presence of NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and member Dr VK Saraswat. The first edition of this index was released in October 2019.
