Soldiers deployed on LAC to get 5-tier security cover special uniform

Special clothing purchased from the US (USA) is proving to be a boon for the soldiers deployed on the border of India and China, ie Line of Actual Control (LAC). These clothes were acquired by India through an Argentine purchase from the US in October. The new uniform has five layers which are extremely light in weight. Which have been specially called for the soldiers living at temperatures below zero to 40 degrees on the hills of eastern Ladakh.

According to sources, about 20,000 sets of these special clothes for soldiers deployed on LAC were purchased in October. Which were started to be given to the battalions deployed in forward areas in November. At the same time, soldiers who are posted on fronts of more than 16000 thousand feet like Rezang La, Rechin La, Mukhapri are being given these clothes. These clothes first have undergarments, then body warmers, followed by three more layers of warm clothing i.e. a total of five layers.

India bought these clothes from the US in October under the LOGISTIC EXCHANGE MEMORANDUM AGREEMENT ie LEMOA. Under LEMOA, the armies of both countries can buy each other essential things like clothes, food, medicines, lubricants and spare parts, if required, without any lengthy paperwork. The Indian Army is also buying clothes, tents and other accessories necessary for the winter of EXTREME HIGH ALTITUDE AREAS from many more European countries.
