Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the World Sustainable Development Summit 2021 through video conferencing today (10 February 2021) at 6:30 pm. A press release has been issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
It says that the theme of the program is ‘safe and protected environment for all and our common future’. The 20th edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit, the flagship event of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), will be held online from 10-12 February 2021.
The conference included Guyana President Mohammad Irfan Ali, Honorable James Marpe, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Mohammad Nasheed, President of the People’s Majlis of the Republic of Maldives Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, United Nations, and Prakash Javadekar, Central Environment, Forests, and Climate change minister will be present on this occasion.
In the summit, many governments, business leaders, academics, climate scientists, youth and civil society will come together in the fight for climate change. India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Ministry of Earth Sciences are key participants of the summit.
Topics to be discussed during the summit include energy and industry transition, adaptation, nature based solutions, climate finance, circular economy, clean ocean and air pollution.
