Indian Air Force conducts Air Force X & Y Group Exam for recruitment for Airmen posts in Group X (Technical) and Group Y (Non-Technical). It is very important for every candidate to follow each phase of the AF X & Y 2020 Exam.

AF X & Y 2020 Exam Dates
IAF will conduct the Online Written Entrance Exam for AF X & Y Groups on November 04-08 2020. All the candidates will 15 days before the result is out and then 15 days more after the result is declared.
AF X & Y GROUP Exam Process
In total there are 3 tests which are held for a candidate applying for AF X & Y Group. After clearing these three tests only a candidate is eligible for final selection in Indian Air Force (IAF).
- Phase I- It includes written which is held at an allotted exam centre.
- Phase II- It includes PFT (Physical Fitness Test), Aptitude-I and Aptitude-II Test at any of the 15 Airmen Selection Centres of IAF.
- Phase III- It includes a Medical Fitness Test which is conducted Medical Centre of IAF.
What Is PFT In AF X & Y?
IAF will conduct Physical Fitness (PFT) also known as (Airmen PFT Test).PFT Test is conducted with the major objective of examining the fitness level of a candidate and to make sure he or she has the physical capacity to join in IAF. PFT include physical activity tests like Sit-Ups, Push-Ups, Squats for both AF Group X and Y.

What Is PFT In Air Force X & Y Preparation Tip
After the completion of the written test, all candidates need to qualify for the physical fitness test for recruitment in IAF. PFT is mandatory for all candidates. Physical Fitness Test process comprises of the following activities: –
- 1600 Meter Run: 1600 Meter Run (1.6 Km Race) which is required to be completed in 6 minutes and 30 seconds by all the candidates attending the AF recruitment rally in Group X and Y.
- 2.4 KM and 5 KM Race: 2400 meter run is required to be completed within 15 minutes and 30 seconds for IAF Security Trades Recruitment.
- Push-Ups: Candidates will also have to complete 10 Push-ups within the allotted time.
- Sit-Ups: 10 Sit-ups (Uthak Baithaks) has to be done in the given time.
- Squats: 20 Squats need to be done in a given time.
AF X & Y PFT Preparation Tips
For all the candidates this fact is noteworthy that PFT (Physical Fitness Test) cannot be ignored at all. Every candidate needs to qualify all the respective stages. The passing ratio in the running test is very low that is why it is a challenge to complete the race, exercise challenge within the allotted times.
What Is PFT In Air Force X & Y Preparation Tip
We are providing some solid preparations so that you excel in PFT with flying colours. They are as follows:-
- Make sure that you have cleared the written test and take one-day full rest and begin the physical practise from the very next day.
- To raise your stamina level you need to give at least 1-2 hours in the morning and 1 hour in the evening.
- Avoid oily and junk food at all costs.
- Maintain your weight level with a balanced diet according to your eating habit and taste.
- If you are not used to running then try out with walking practice.
- Try to race up within the time limit of 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
- You need to practice on how to do Push-ups, Sit-ups and Squats within the time limit and if you are a new one then you need to the tutorial to learn on how to do it properly.
- While doing all these physical activities one need to do maintain the posture in order to do it properly and avoid any fatal injuries.
- All candidates are strongly advised to bring a pair of sports hoes and shoes during the PFT.
AF X & Y 2020 Physical Standards
General Physical Standards (Weight, Height, Chest etc) for Group X (Except Education Instructor Trade) & Group Y (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF (S) and Musician Trades are as follows :
- Height : Minium Height : 152.5 cms
- Chest: Minimum Expansion range: 5 cm
- Weight: It should be in proportion to height and age. Minimum weight of 55 kg is must for Operations Assistant (ATS) Trade only.
- Corneal Surgery (LASIK/PRK) is not acceptable.
- Hearing: Candidate should have a normal hearing level and should be able to hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters.
- Dental: Candidates should have proper teeth, healthy gums and 14 dental points.
