Know About Martyr Colonel Viplav Tripathi Who Sacrificed His Life Fighting Maoists

About Martyr Colonel Viplav Tripathi : Col Viplav Tripathi, who was martyred in an ambush by maoists in Manipur on Saturday , had inherited patriotism. Following the path shown by his grandfather Kishori Mohan Tripathi, a freedom fighter and a member of the Constituent Assembly, both the sons of the Tripathi family had decided to serve the country by becoming soldiers.

in front of the house of Tripathi family living in Kirori Mal Colony of Raigad city, there is a crowd of people since afternoon. Everyone’s eyes are moist, but there is also a feeling of pride. The family members could not believe that Colonel Viplav, who gave information about his skills on the phone in the morning, and his family became the victim of the militant attack shortly after.

Colonel Tripathi (41), the commanding officer of Khuga Battalion of Assam Rifles, his wife Anuja (36), son Abir (five) and four paramilitary personnel were killed in a militant attack in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Saturday. Col Tripathi’s maternal uncle Rajesh Patnaik said that Tripathi had a conversation with his mother Asha Tripathi at around 9.30 am on Saturday morning, but later in the afternoon the parents of Colonel Viplav got the news of the death of their son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

Joined the Army in 2001

Patnaik told that the spirit of patriotism within the rebellion was born due to his grandfather Kishori Mohan Tripathi. His grandfather was a member of the Constituent Assembly and a well-known freedom fighter of the region. Kishori Mohan Tripathi died in 1994 when Viplav was 14 years old. He told that Viplav was very much attached to his grandfather. Patnaik told that Viplav had joined the Indian Army in 2001 as a lieutenant. His motto was to serve the country like his grandfather. His journalist father and social activist mother also inspired him to do the same.

Patnaik said that he is proud that his nephew has sacrificed his life while serving the country.

Patnaik told that born on May 30, 1980, Viplav joined Sainik School, Rewa (Madhya Pradesh) after passing class V from a school in Raigad city. His father Subhash Tripathi (76) is the editor-in-chief of the local Hindi daily Dainik Bayar and mother Asha Tripathi is a retired librarian from Government Girls College. He told that after schooling, Viplav got admission in National Defense Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla and then Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun. Viplav’s maternal uncle told that in 2001, Viplav was appointed as a lieutenant in the Kumaon Regiment in Ranikhet. He later passed the command course from Defense Service Staff College (DSSC), Wellington.

He told that Viplav’s younger brother Anay Tripathi also joined the army after studying from Sainik School, Rewa. He is presently posted as Lt Col in Shillong. Patnaik said that Anay had reached Raigad from Shillong on Friday night itself, and today he received the news from his military channels at around 12.30 pm that his elder brother had been martyred in the attack. They celebrated Diwali together in Manipur and after celebrating the festival their parents returned to Raigad on November 6. Patnaik said that others have left for Kolkata for the Eastern Command Headquarters of the Army. The mortal remains of Viplav, his wife and son will reach Raigad on Sunday.
