Taking the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s self-reliant India campaign a step forward, the Indian Army has launched its indigenous messaging chat app. The Indian Army has named this in-house messaging app as Army Secure Ingenious Messaging Application (ASIGMA). This army app is a web-based application.
It was told in the Press Information Bureau of the Army that instead of the Army Wide Area Network (AWAN) messaging application, now an application based on the Army’s internal network has been prepared. Officials said that this app will not be available on the main app store. This ASIGMA app is housed on Army owned hardware and will be upgraded from time to time.
According to the officials, the main purpose of this app is to keep the important things of the army and the confidential matters of the army safe. Being isolated from external servers, it is much more secure than social media apps like WhatsApp and Signal.

It has been mentioned in the note that the interface of ASIGMA will be quite simple and it can meet the useful requirements of future. Many essential features have been included in this app like group chat, video calling, voice note, photo sending facility. It has been said in the press note that this app has been prepared keeping in mind the needs of the army.
This new messaging application will meet the real-time data transfer and messaging requirements of the Army. Let us tell you that at this time the Indian Army is engaged in making its platform digital and paperless wherever possible. ASIGMA will further boost these efforts of the Army.
