The Ministry of Defense has approved the creation of a new post of Deputy Chief (Chief of Army Staff Strategy) for military reform and strategic planning at Army Headquarters. Official sources said on Thursday that this is an important step as part of the mega reforms at Army Headquarters.
Along with this, the Ministry has also completed the formalities for creation of another new post of Director General of Information Warfare. According to sources, the ministry last year gave in-principle approval for the creation of both posts as part of the first batch of reforms in the army and now the formal process for this has been completed.
He said that the post of Deputy Army Chief (Strategy) (Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) has been created to deal with military operations, military intelligence, strategic planning and logistics operations.
This will be the third post of Deputy Chief in the Army. He said that Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh has become the first Deputy Chief of Army (Strategy).
