Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor took over as the Commandant of the Air Force Academy (AFA), Indian Air Force, here on Sunday. Air Marshal Kapoor replaces retired Air Marshal IP Vipin.
An alumnus of National Defense Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla, Defense Services Staff College Wellington, Flying Instructor School, College of Defense Management and National Defense College, New Delhi, Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor joined the Indian Air Force on 6 December 1985.

He has over 7,700 hours of accident free flying experience on various aircraft. He commanded the only air-to-air refueling squadron of the Indian Air Force as well as a major flying base of the Indian Air Force.
Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor, in his illustrious career spanning over three decades, has discharged important responsibilities such as Director and Principal Director (Operations) at Air Headquarters. He has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, President’s Award and Vayu Sena Medal twice.
