Seven Army personnel got trapped in an avalanche while patrolling the border area in Arunachal Pradesh. The work of rescuing them is going on and for this special teams have also been called from outside. The army said on Monday that the incident took place on Sunday in a high altitude area in Kameng sector of the state. The jawans were patrolling the border area when suddenly they got stuck in the avalanche.
On receiving information about this incident, the army started search and rescue operation. Efforts are on to trace the soldiers. Teams skilled in such rescue operations have also been called from outside. The Army also informed that the weather in the above area has remained very bad for the last few days. It is snowing heavily. Kameng region is the western part of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Eastern Command of the Indian Army monitors the security arrangements along the 1,346-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the region. It includes the areas of Sikkim as well as Arunachal Pradesh. This command consists of three corps. 33 Corps is responsible for security in Sikkim, 4th Corps in Kameng Sector and 3rd Corps in the rest of Arunachal Pradesh.
