Tragic Demise of CDS Bipin Rawat : India’s Chief of Army Defense Staff (CDS) Vipin Rawat passed away in a helicopter crash today, December 8, 2021. He was 64 years old. Indian Air Force helicopter carrying 14 people including General Rawat from Coimbatore to Sulur crashed in Coonoor. The army has officially confirmed this. All the important persons including the Prime Minister, Home Minister have expressed deep grief over his death. His death has caused a wave of grief across the country.
He along with his wife and 11 other officers were killed in a helicopter crash that took place in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu today. The Indian Air Force has confirmed the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others in the helicopter crash.
Around noon today, an IAF Mi 17 V5 helicopter with a crew of 4 members carrying the CDS and 9 other passengers met with a tragic accident near Coonoor, TN.

According to media reports, all the bodies have been recovered so far from the accident site. At the same time, 13 out of 14 deaths are also being claimed. Also 1 injured has been taken to the hospital.
General Rawat was born on 16 March 1958 in Pauri, Uttarakhand. The background of General Rawat’s family is also associated with the Army. His father Laxman Singh Rawat also retired as a Lieutenant General in the army. At the same time, his mother was the daughter of famous politician and former MLA from Uttarkashi Kishan Singh Parmar. General Rawat had his early education from Caribbean Hall, Dehradun. He completed his higher education at St. Edward’s School, Shimla.
