LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh government is mulling to kick off the Affordable Rental Housing and Complexes (ARHC) scheme for students, urban migrants, and poor people living in cities. The idea is to ease the financial burden on poor migrants, students, urban migrants, low-income groups including factory workers, people from economically weaker sections (EWS), and people associated with hospitality by providing affordable rental accommodation.
Priority sections under the scheme include widows, working women & minorities, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and other backward classes. This scheme will be implemented under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to promote the participation of private and public institutions to construct, operate and maintain rental housing complexes for the beneficiaries. All projects under the scheme will be utilized for rental accommodation exclusively for EWS/LIG category, urban migrants/poor for a minimum period of 25 years.
