How To Become Airman To Officer : Know Full Process

How To Become Airman To Officer : This blog is dedicated to all the Air Force defence aspirants who get selected in IAF (Indian Air Force) as Airmen and wish to become Officer. Now It must be known that Airman is a non-officer post and not everyone can become officer but one wishes to be an officer first after all.

A defence candidate can become airman after 10+2 class whereas to become officer graduation is compulsory.


Duties Of Navy Executive Officer


 

AFCAT/CDS ENTRY 

After Graduation Airmen can become officer by qualifying AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) and CDS (Combined Defence Service) exams. Airmen have to qualify the written exam and then appear or the SSB interview round and qualify it. After medical test and document verification being successful they are selected as officer.

NOTE- It is to be noted that via CDS entry scheme only Flying Branch is alloted  through AFA (Air Force Academy) and for that airmen have to qualify additional skill test of PABT( Pilot aptitude battery test) which has comparatively lower vacancies also.

ACC Entry Scheme

ACC stands for Army Cadet College. IAF provides an opportunity for serving airmen with minimum 10+2 educational qualification and below the age of 27 years to become commissioned officer in Army through Army Cadet College Course. The eligibility candidate has to pass the written examination conducted by Army HQ.

On passing the exam they were interviewed by SSB. If selected, Army HQ details the candidate to undergo the ACC course at IMA, Dehradun and on completion of the course at IMA, they are granted commission in the Army.

SERVICE ENTRY SCHEME (SEC)

At last comes, SEC (Service Entry Scheme) for selection/promotion to Sergeant (Sgt) officer rank directly from being Airman with 10+2 educational qualification, f10 years of service and in the age group of 34 to 42 years.

It is become permanent commissioned officer in ground duty branches (Technical and Non-Technical) in the IAF. Airmen with higher education qualification and sports achievement are given weightage in select ion process.

Eligible airmen have to pass the written test and SSB interview to be selected for commissioning course at AFA. On successful completion of the course they are granted permanent commission.

So Yes,an airman can apply and become an officer subject to fulfilling the eligible criteria. There are a large number of ground duty officers in the IAF , who were ex-airmen.
