USA’s top intelligence official said that China is the biggest threat to democracy and freedom since World War II and Beijing is preparing for a confrontation with the US. He said that China intends to dominate the world economically, militarily and technically.
Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe wrote in an article published in the newspaper The Wall Street Journal that China was increasing its power by stealing American secrets and then attempting to remove American companies from the market. The Trump administration has taken a tough stance against China, accusing Chinese products of levying and stealing intellectual property.
“It is clear from intelligence that Beijing intends to dominate the US and the rest of the world economically, militarily and technically,” Ratcliffe said. “Many of China’s major public initiatives and major companies offer a layer of cover for the activities of the Chinese Communist Party,” he said. It is noteworthy that the Trump administration has recently taken several tough measures against China. The US has limited visas for members of China’s ruling Communist Party and imposed new restrictions on many Chinese companies.
The Trump administration also ordered China to close its consulate in Houston earlier this year after it was alleged that Chinese diplomats from that mission were threatening US citizens and attempting to spy. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo defined the Communist Party of China as the biggest threat of our time.
