On Thursday, two security forces personnel were killed in a terrorist attack on a rapid response team (QRT) on the outskirts of Srinagar. The attack revealed the involvement of three terrorists. Two soldiers have also been killed in the attack.
The statement issued by the army said that the militants opened indiscriminate firing on an Indian Army rapid response team at Aban Shah Chowk, HMT, Khusipora, Srinagar this afternoon. As it was a crowded area, the soldiers exercised restraint to avoid any civilian damage. Two soldiers were seriously injured in this attack and were sent to the nearest medical facility. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Kashmir’s IG Vijay Kumar told news agency ANI that the attack was carried out by Jaish, by evening we will identify the group. The armed militants fled in a car. Probably two of them are Pakistani and one local. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the attackers.
