To increase mutual relations between the two countries, India and Madagascar have planned to sign several agreements. The MoU is under discussion in the fields of health, traditional medicine, telemedicine, tourism, culture, and tele-education.

To strengthen mutual relations between the two countries, India has established Bhabhatron, a radiotherapy machine installed at the HJRA Hospital in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. India also operates the Center for Geospatial Applications for Rural Development in Madagascar.
Earlier in the year 2018, President Ram Nath Kovind also paid a state visit to this East African country during which a Defense Cooperation Agreement was also signed.
Madagascar has a strong friendly relationship with India, particularly from Gujarat, and more than 20,000 Indians are playing a major role in the business and economy of Madagascar.
Particularly in February 2011, relations between these two countries were considered normal, with visits by several high-level officials, which were held to advance developing relations. Currently, around 20,000 people of Indian origin are living in Madagascar, including 2,500 Indian nationals.
Ram Nath Kovind was the first President of India to visit Madagascar in March 2018. He was honored with the second class Grand Cross there. This is Madagascar’s highest honor given to non-citizens by the Prime Minister of Madagascar.
