According to the latest reports, former Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Ahmed Patel died on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 3:30 am. After a Kovid infection, he was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. His son Faizal Patel has confirmed that, after his father, Ahmed Patel, was diagnosed with corona virus infection, several parts of his body stopped functioning.
Earlier, Ahmed Patel’s test for Kovid-19 infection came positive on October 01, after which, he was admitted to the ICU of Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on 15 November 2020.
To confirm the news of his demise, his son Faizal Patel tweeted a tweet from his official account on 25 November 2020.
Ahmed Patel was one of the most prominent leaders of the Congress and was considered a close confidant and political advisor of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. He also held the post of treasurer of the Indian National Congress.
Mr. Patel started his political career in the year 1976 by contesting local body elections from Bharuch district of Gujarat. In 1985, he was appointed as the Secretary of Parliament by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Ahmed Patel was also instrumental in setting up the Narmada Management Authority to oversee the Sardar Sarovar Project.
