Indian Army launches Internet Service on Siachen Glacier, the highest battleground in the world.
On the Siachen Glacier, the highest battleground in the world at 19,061 feet, the Siachen Signallers turned on satellite-based internet access on Sunday.
The Indian Army has launched a satellite-based service in Siachen, this is a satellite-based internet service, neither an optical fibre connection nor mobile tower are necessary,
where there is an oxygen shortage caused by the area’s high altitude. Living and thriving in Siachen is difficult because to its severe isolation.
The same technique has been applied at Siachen, which is located close to the Indo-Pak border and spans a region of around 78 Km, with Pakistan on one side and Aksai Chin on the other.
Pakistan attempted to conquer this region in 1984, and as a result, the Indian Army launched a military campaign to reclaim control of the Siachen Glacier. Since that time, the Indian Army has stationed special forces here. Because of the strategic significance of this region, the Army must continue its deployment.
