Shasrad Arvind Bobde chosen and appointed as new Chief Justice of India by the Recommendation of present CJI Ranjan Gogoi who will complete his tenure on November 17, 2019. He is the 47th CJI of our country and also serve as the CJI for 1 year and five months i.e. April 23, 2021.
Being the senior most judge CJI Gogoi suggest the name of Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.
CJI Gogoi is Chief Justice who decides the cases of Ayodhya- Babri masjid land dispute and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
To appoint the new CJI he follows proper procedure and also write a letter to the government. He also present proposal of enhancing the retirement age of HC judges.
About Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde
- On 24 April , 1955 Justice SA Bobde came into the world at Nagour, Maharashtra , he also completed his studies from Nagour University in Nagour.
- He belongs to well educated family. His father is also in the same profession as advocate general of Maharashtra.
- His elder brother is a renowned senior advocate of Supreme Court.
- At present second senior -most judge of Supreme Court.
- He is also hold position as Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University .
- Also hold as Chancellor of Nagpur’s National Law University
About his career
- he stars as an advocate of Bar Council of Maharashtra .
- He practice law at Nagpur Bench in Bombay High Court
- After that he appoint as the senior advocate of Supreme Court.
- Again at Bombay high-court as Additional Judge.
- On April 2013 appoints as Judge of Supreme Court .
