Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and veteran BJP leader Kalyan Singh passed away on 21 August 2021. He was 89 years old. He was ill for a long time and was admitted to a hospital in Lucknow. Many leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and other parties, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have expressed grief over his death.
Yogi Adityanath has announced three days of state mourning in Uttar Pradesh and a public holiday on 23 August. Former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh’s condition had remained critical for a long time and he was put on life support system. He was on ventilator for several days.
