NDA General Ability Test (GAT) Syllabus for 2020

UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year. Like other UPSC exams NDA exam syllabus too very vast.   Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) scheduled National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Exam (NDA 2020) in April & September month. Students required starting their NDA exam preparations in full swing now.   In this article we are going to discuss the syllabus of the NDA GAT 2020. ABOUT NDA EXAM

National Defence Academy (NDA), is a national level entrance exam to tae admission in defence services such as the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.   Candidates fulfill the Eligibly criteria can apply for  NDA Exam 2020 .

GAT SYLLABUS FOR NDA 2020

It is the second paper of NDA exam .  NDA GAT  Test  divided into 2 parts

  • English
  • General Knowledge

It consists of 150 questions of 600 marks . Duration of the examination is about 2:30 hours.. The questions printed are bilingual (English & Hindi).  Here NDA English paper contains 50 questions of 200 marks and GK paper contains 100 questions of 400 marks.

NDA general ability test syllabus consists topics – English paper contains vocabulary, grammar & comprehension. GK Paper divide into various sections such as physics, history, geography, chemistry, general science, and current events. Now check NDA 2020 GAT syllabus details below.

NDA ENGLISH SYLLABUS 

English paper is designed to test the grammar and vocabulary skills of the aspirants . As this section is common for all exams ,  it needs a lot of attention.  NDA English question paper standard is the same as the secondary level. It covers basic questions from grammar and Vocabulary such as Synonyms – Antonyms, Comprehension questions,Fill in the blanks, Spotting the error, passage, Sentence arrangement , Cloze test , etc. Through various types of questions, the examiner tests your basic English skills and proficiency. NDA GENERAL KNOWLEDGE  SYLLABUS

It  covers subjects – Physics , Chemistry , Biology, Current Events, History,Geography, Polity. The detaled syllabus for the Part B is given below:-

PHYSICS :

  • States of matter and its properties- physical properties and states of matter, mass, weight, volume, density and specific gravity, principle of archimedes, pressure barometer
  • Motion and laws of motion- pressure barometer. Motion of objects, velocity and acceleration, newton’s laws of motion, force and momentum, parallelogram of forces, stability and equilibrium of bodies.
  • Work, energy and power- gravitation, elementary ideas of work, power and energy.
  • Modes of transfer of heat and its effect – effects of heat, measurement of temperature and heat, change of state and latent heat, modes of transference of heat.
  • Sound –  sound waves and their properties, simple musical instruments
  • Light– rectilinear propagation of light, reflection and refraction. Spherical mirrors and lenses, human eye.
  • Magnet and its properties- natural and artificial magnets, properties of a magnet, earth as a magnet
  • Current and electricity- static and current electricity, conductors and non-conductors, ohm’s law, simple electrical circuits, heating, lighting and magnetic effects of current, measurement of electrical power, primary and secondary cells, use of x-rays
  • General principles of working – simple pendulum, pulleys, siphon, levers, balloon, pumps, hydrometer, pressure cooker, thermos flask, gramophone, telegraphs, telephone, periscope, telescope, microscope, mariner’s compass; lightening conductors, safety fuses.

 

CHEMISTRY:

  • Physical and chemical changes
  • Air and water (properties)
  • Chemical equations and laws of chemical combination
  • Elements, compounds and mixtures
  • Acid, bases and salts
  • Preparation & properties – hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, oxidation and reduction
  • Carbon and its forms
  • Atom and its structure – elementary ideas about the structure of atom, atomic equivalent and molecular weights, valency, boyle’s law, charle’s law.
  • Fertilizers- natural and artificial
  • Use of materials for preparation of different chemicals – soap, glass, ink, paper, cement, paints, safety matches and gunpowder

BIOLOGY:

  • Living and non-living things- difference between the living and nonliving
  • Basic unit of life:  – cells, protoplasm and tissues
  • Epidemics – causes and prevention
  • Plants and animals- growth and reproduction.
  • Human body and life processes- elementary knowledge of human body and its important organs- heart, kidney, brain, muscular system, skeletal system, digestive system.
  • Food and balanced diet- source of energy for man
  • Achievement of eminent scientists

GEOGRAPHY :

  • The Earth, its shape and size.
  • Latitudes and Longitudes, Concept of time. International Date Line.
  • Movements of Earth and their effects.
  • Origin of Earth.
  • Rocks and their classification;
  • Weathering—Mechanical and Chemical
  • Earthquakes and Volcanoes.
  • Ocean Currents and Tides
  • Atmosphere and its composition;
  • Temperature and Atmospheric Pressure
  • Planetary Winds, Cyclones and Anticyclones
