The alumni of NDA include 3 Param Vir Chakra recipients and 12 Ashoka Chakra recipients. NDA has also produced 27 service Chiefs Of Staff till date. The current Chiefs of Staff of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are all NDA alumni from the same course. NDA is for Officers level post in defence.

Nationality- Indian

Form Filling Age – 15.5 years to 18.5 years.

Joining Age – 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

Height Limit – 157 cm

Marital status – Unmarried

Education Criteria – 12^th Pursuing or 12^th Pass Student.

FORM NOTIFICATION:-

UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year i.e. April and September. Availability of forms is made online in the month of January and June for exams conducted in the month of April and September respectively. In the year 2020, NDA exam which is going to happen in September, so forms will be available in first week of June..

Selection Procedure for  NDA:-

Stage 1:- Written Exam :- Written exam consists of total 900 marks. It is conducted in two shifts i.e Shift 1 from 10 am to 12:30 pm and Shift 2 is from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. In Shift 1 students have to appear for Maths        Paper which is of 300 marks and in Shift 2  students have to appear for General Ability Test (GAT) exam. GAT includes English, G.S (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) , GK (History, Polity, Geography) which is of 600 marks.

Stage 2:- SSB Exam :-  SSB exam consists of total 900 marks. It is a five days process where different types of  exam such as Screening / PPDT(Picture Perception &    Discussion Test, Psychology Test, G.T.O task Personal Interview,etc are taken by the officers.

Stage 3 :- Medical Exam:- Those students who are able to qualify the first two levels of the National Defence Academy Exam i.e. the written exam and the SSB exam are called for the final round of the NDA exam which is the Medical exam. In this exam students have to go through some body check – ups such as:-

• There should be no symptoms or any sort of organic disease of the heart and blood vessels.
• Candidate’s Blood pressure should be normal.
• Urine sample of the candidate will be tested and if any abnormality is detected, it will be a cause for rejection.
• Hernias, if not operated properly will make a candidate unfit. In case of operated Hernia, a minimum of 6 months has to pass prior to final medical examination before commencement of the course.
• There should be no signs of piles.
• Any disease of skin which is likely to cause disability or disfigurement will also be considered as a cause for rejection.
• There should be no enlargement of liver or spleen.
• Any evidence of disease of internal organs of the abdomen will be a cause for rejection.
• Candidate should not have any past history of mental breakdown or fits.
• No bony deformities like chest wall deformities, Elbow deformities, Finger deformities, Knock Knee, Bowlegs and deformities of feet and toes should be present.
• Along with some other hearing abilities checkup along with Dental checkup.
