Entrance Exam

To get admission in NDA a candidate has to give the entrance paper conducted twice yearly by UPSC comprising of two papers viz Paper I Mathematics & Paper II GAT (English and GK), one has to clear both the papers separately followed by SSB Interviews an Merit inn

Instead in Technical Entry Scheme (TES) – there is no entrance test or exam is conducted, rather the call letter is released for SSB interview based on your Performance in JEE Exam and if you match the standards of the forces only then you will get the commission in the forces.

Educational Qualification

You can join any of the tri-services: Indian Army, Indian Air force or Indian Navy from NDA. If you want to join Indian Army then the qualification required is just 12/HSC or equivalent from a recognised board or university. And for Air Force, Navy and Naval Academy the candidate must have to passed 12/HSC with PCM.

While – for TES – To fill out the form the candidates with

A minimum of 70% marks in PCM of 10+2 can apply only.
JEE qualification along with

Selection Criteria

For NDA a candidate must clear the written exam and then SSB Interview. Where as for TES no written exam, directly have to face SSB interview.

*Age Limit which is almost same:

For NDA: 16.5 to 19.5 years – this age should be with respect to the start of the course at NDA and for TES again it is 16.5 to 19.5 years to start the course at OTA.

Training Academy and Service Comparison

For NDA – if you clear NDA written exam and SSB interview you have to join NDA at Khadagwasala, Pune but for TES the candidates will go 3 years for training at CME Centre Pune/ MCTE Mhow / CEME Secunderabad and one year in IMA.

Degree on Completion of training

For NDA the candidates have to choose from a Bachelor of Arts or A Bachelor of Science is awarded after completing the 4 years of training at NDA and then Passing Out Parade at IMA thereafter they join the respective forces as commissioned officer. Where as for TES candidates will go 3 years for training at CME Centre Pune/ MCTE Mhow / CEME Secunderabad and one year in IMA for 4 years and will get an Engineering degree(B.Tech Degree).

Salary

Almost same.Basic Salaryis the same for Both NDA and TES Officers.Only Difference is Officers From NDA Based on their Transfer gets Military Allowance,High Altitude Allowance,HighBattle Field Allowance whileOfficers From TES gets Technical Allowance
