NDA Exam Day Instructions and Guidelines 2023

The National Defense Academy (NDA) exam is a highly competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for admission to the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The exam is conducted twice a year, usually in April and September.

Here are some instructions for candidates appearing for the NDA exam:

  1. Admit Card: Candidates must bring their NDA Admit Card with them to the exam center. The Admit Card can be downloaded from the UPSC website.
  2. Reporting time: Candidates should reach the exam center at least 30 minutes before the reporting time mentioned on their admit card. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.
  3. Exam pattern: The NDA exam consists of two papers: Mathematics (300 marks) and General Ability Test (600 marks). The exam duration for each paper is two and a half hours.
  4. Marking scheme: For each correct answer, candidates will be awarded one mark. For every incorrect answer, one-third of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted.
  5. Pen and paper: Candidates must bring their own black ballpoint pen to the exam center for marking their answers on the OMR sheet.
  6. Prohibited items: Electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, and any other communication devices are not allowed inside the exam hall.
  7. Covid-19 guidelines: Due to the ongoing pandemic, candidates must follow all the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the government. This includes wearing a face mask, maintaining social distancing, and carrying a hand sanitizer.
  8. Rough work: Rough work should be done only on the question paper provided by the invigilator.
  9. Exam instructions: Candidates must read the instructions given on the question paper and OMR sheet carefully before attempting the exam.
  10. Leaving the exam hall: Candidates are not allowed to leave the exam hall until the end of the exam. Once the exam is over, candidates must submit their OMR sheet and question paper to the invigilator before leaving the exam hall.
