Punjab : Due to heat stroke one jawan died, 4 admitted in hospital

An army jawan was killed and several others had to be hospitalized during training on Saturday at Mamun military station near Pathankot in Punjab. It is being said that a jawan died of ‘heat stroke’ due to severe heat during training. According to media reports, the condition of the four soldiers who have been admitted to the hospital is also critical. The army said in a statement that the ‘affected’ jawans have been admitted to an army hospital in Pathankot and are being provided necessary medical care.

“During an organized, supervised and supervised training activity carried out by 11 officers, 11 JCOs (Junior Commissioned Officers) and 120 other ranks near Pathankot, one jawan died due to inclement weather conditions,” the statement said. Some officers/JCOs including some others have been admitted to Military Hospital, Pathankot.

Army officials had earlier said that the weather was hot and humid when the training activity was underway. According to the Indian Express, the training was going on for the last 72 hours.
