Key Details about the Cambrian Patrol Exercise
The exercise was conducted from 13 October to 15 October 2021 in Brecon, Wales, United Kingdom.
This Cambrian Patrol exercise was organized by the UK Army. It is considered as the ultimate test of human stamina and team spirit.
It is also sometimes referred to among the world’s armies as the “Olympics of Military Patrol”. Till the sixth phase of this exercise, out of the 96 participating teams, only three international patrol teams were awarded gold medals this year.
Indian Army team participated in the event and competed with a total of 96 teams including 17 international teams representing special forces and prestigious regiments from different parts of the world.

During this Cambrian Patrol exercise, all competing teams were evaluated on their performance in harsh terrain and inclement cold weather. These conditions presented different challenges for the teams. Different teams were also exposed to complex real-world situations to assess their responses in coping to these settings.
The Indian Army team received a lot of praise from all the judges. The team was highly praised for their excellent navigation skills, overall physical stamina and delivery of patrol commands.
The gold medal was presented to the representative team of the Indian Army by the Chief of General Staff of the British Army, General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith.
