The Hon’ble President of India and the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces, Shri Ram Nath Kovind has lauded the remarkable contribution by Indian Navy and INS Shivaji to the nation in Lonavala, Maharashtra on February 13, 2020.
The President colour was presented to INS Shivaji during a ceremonial Parade comprising 130 officers and 630 sailors of the Navy that also included a 150 men Guard of Honour.
The President congratulated the officers and the sailors of the INS Shivaji for their contribution and impressive appearance of the establishment. The contribution of INS Shivaji in training of modern-day Marine Engineers was especially noted by the Hon’ble President of India.
The honour was received by Nishan Adhikari on behalf of the military unit. On the occasion, a special cover making INS Shivaji’s Platinum jubilee was also released by the Hon’ble President of India. The Platinum Jubilee year celebrations started from 5th February last year.
INS Shivaji was established in 1945. It is one of the Premier training establishments of imparting training given to the officers and sailors of the Indian Navy. The establishment has trained more than two lakh officers and sailors, both Indian & International, since inception.
INS Shivaji are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The award of Presidents colour marks a very important in the history of INS Shivaji.
