Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the first National Infrastructure Masterplan named “Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti” on 13 October 2021.
This Gati Shakti Yojana was announced by Prime Minister Modi on the occasion of Independence Day, 2021.
This master plan will bring 16 ministries and seven key infrastructure sectors on a single platform to coordinate various project plans among all stakeholder ministries to avoid duplication, plug gaps and expedite timely approvals.
This Gati Shakti platform was launched to provide instant information in the country. This will allow better coordination between the ministries. This Gati Shakti Yojana was launched with an aim to achieve three basic goals,
Seamless multimodal connectivity to facilitate easy movement of goods and people.
Better prioritization, optimum utilization of resources, timely capacity building, and
Resolving issues like disjointed planning, standardization and approvals.
Purpose of Prime Minister Gati Shakti Master Plan
This master plan will provide a framework for the ‘National Infrastructure Pipeline Programme’.
The objective of the scheme is to make Indian products more competitive by reducing the logistics cost and improving the supply chain. It aims to provide the foundation of overall infrastructure and an integrated path for the economy.
This will help the local manufacturers of India to be globally competitive.
Apart from this, this scheme of more than one hundred lakh crore rupees will provide many employment opportunities for the youth.
It seeks to attract investments from all over the world to improve infrastructure in India so as to provide new direction and new impetus for overall infrastructure development in India.
