According to an Indian Railways official under “Mission Jeewan Raksha”, RPF personnel have saved 1650 lives from the wheels of moving trains at railway stations in the last four years.
In addition, RPF personnel returned 1,23,777 goods with a value of Rs 23 crore to the rightful owners. Out of this, goods worth Rs 4.23 crore were returned by CR and WR RPF personnel in 1973.
RPF has also played an important role in reuniting lost or separated children with their families. They also rescued more than 11,900 children who needed care and protection.
The President of India has awarded 9 Jeevan Raksha Padak and one Gallantry Medal to RPF personnel in recognition of their efforts in saving lives of people in the last 4 years.
