Indian Railways launched digital online HR management system

Indian Railways has launched a fully digitized online human resource management system (HRMS). The Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, Vinod Kumar Yadav has launched this system for railway employees and pensioners through video conferencing on 26 November 2020. This HRMS system is a highly motivating project for the Indian Railways.

The Human Resource Management System (HRMS) is expected to make a big impact on the functioning of all employees and make them more tech-savvy.

Main Characteristics

The CEO of Railway Board launched the following modules of HRMS and User Depot:

Employee Self-Service (ESS) Module: This module will help railway employees to work with various modules of HRMS including communication about data changes.

Provident Fund (PF) Advance Module: This module will enable railway employees to check their PF balance and apply for online PF advance. Employees will also be able to see the status of their PF application online.
Settlement Module: This module digitizes the entire settlement process of retired employees. This will enable employees to fill their settlement and pension booklets online. Service details will be obtained online and pension arrangements will also be made online.

Benefits

The Human Resource Management System (HRMS) will affect more than 27 lakh families of serving railway employees as well as retired people. This will facilitate improvement in efficiency and productivity of the railway system.

The Indian Railways has already launched other modules of the Human Resource Management System, including Employee Master Module, Electronic Service Record Module, Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) Module, Electronic Pass Module and Office Order Module.
