Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India has constituted a committee to review the guidelines applicable to television rating agencies in India. The committee will be chaired by Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati.
This committee will re-review the existing television rating guidelines so that various procedures can be strengthened to make them more reliable and transparent.
Led by Shashi Tharoor, the Parliamentary Panel on Information Technology last month unanimously agreed that the current system of measuring audience estimates through television rating points (TRP) is flawed and its technology is outdated.

- Dr. Shalabh, Statistics Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at IIT, Kanpur.
- Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Director of C-DOT
- Pulak Ghosh, Professor of Decision Science Center for Public Policy.
Apart from this, this committee can also invite an expert as a special invitee.
Why do we need a committee?
