CDS Examination which is believed to be a golden opportunity for the candidates opting their graduation or has graduated. The best thing about the examination is its eligibility criteria which provides opportunity to each and ever candidate to join Indian Armed Forces irrespective of their stream. Other merit in the eligibility is that other than any stream it also provied the benefit of no percentage boundation for the examination. UPSC conducts CDS examination twice a year and the first exam of the year is over now.
Now those who have participated in the examination can sit and relax as they have done their part in CDS 1 2020 written examination. The exam was held on 2nd February 2020 to fill in the total vacancy of 418 candidates. Divided 100 seats to IMA, INA 45 , 32 seats to AFA , 225 seats to OTA and lastly 16 seats were for OTA women.
Like always CDS 1 2020 was conducted in 3 meetings i.e., the first paper was of English from 9 am to 11 am , second paper is of General Knowledge from 12 pm to 2 pm and the third paper is of Elementary Mathematics held from 3pm to 5pm.

This analysis will contain the comparison of CDS 1 2020 paper with the previous year’s paper as well as the number of questions asked and their level of difficulty.

Now detailing about the questions as well as the question paper, English this time was a bit of surprise paper as it contains some questions that were never asked in CDS examination. Questions based on Reported speech and transformation of sentences were something new for the candidates to swallow.
Talking about the easier part, like always the antonym, Synonyms were easy ones that candidates answered easily. The pattern of English was quite new for the students. Questions of many types were asked to check the grammar and strength a student got in English.
Overall we can say that the paper was of easy-moderate this time. The questions of which candidates were habitual was aswered by the students easily. But questions that were of a new pattern to them like reported speech and trasformation of sentences made it hard for the students to answer.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:
The G.K paper is of 2 hours, comprising of 120 questions of 100 marks. CDS papers also contain negative marking, for each wrong question a negative marking of one-third marks is applicable.

A total of 17 questions were asked from Geography in General Knowledge Paper. Most of the questions were in between Moderate to difficult level. In comparison with other G.K subjects this time Current Affairs has took it all and has grabbed the maximum number of questions. As compared to CDS 2 2019 the level of Questions in CDS 1 2020 were hard.
Current affairs and Questions related to policies of Niti Aayog were the highlight of the G.K paper of CDS 1 2020 examination. Other than that History making the same effect as usual got 18 questions this time and that too of moderate and difficult level. The level of questions geography part contained in the examination has moderate level and polity that comprised 13 questions in CDS G.K paper contained some tough questions to be solved by the candidates.
There is no such change in the G.S part of the paper the Science section of G.K CDS 1 2020 paper was an easy moderate one.
MATHEMATICS:
Mathematics is for those students who wants to join INA, IMA and AFA as their future institutions. This section also comprises of a total of 100 questions and each question carries 1 mark.

Based on the analysis we can say that CDS 1 2020 maths section was moderate- difficult. Out of 100 candidates can mark around 60 to 69 good attempts. Most of the questions were of expected difficulty but the paper was balanced.
Talking about the topics, the questions asked in the exam were tricky and lengthy. The paper carries a total of 100 questions from topics like Arithmetics, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration, Simplification, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, average, etc..
