The reason of CDS 2 2019 paper being easy is that it even asked for the first time in the history of UPSC questions were asked to identify the parts of speech , not only this for the first time identifying the correct word or Misspelt words were also asked and that too of a very basic level. Rest of the part wasn’t a surprise it was as it always is. Talking about the Idioms and phrases it was again a child’s play. Cloze and reading comprehension was icing on the cake. Even the vocabulary part containing the Antonyms and Synonyms were based on everyday use.
Coming to the grammatical part, Spotting errors were based on basic knowledge of Grammar i.e., Parts of speech and tenses.
Overall we can say that the paper was easy and of basic level. As we analyse this paper pattern is quite similar to the TET paper. With the change in trend we can say that the pattern of CDS paper is also changing. Since the paper was easy we can easily assume that the cut-off may go high. It may vary from 70 – 85 which makes the English paper even more important.
