AFCAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria : Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is an Entrance Examination administered by the Indian Air Force to select applicants for various Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) jobs. AFCAT 2022 application form has been announced online from 1st December 2021 on the official website – afcat.cdac.in. it is expected that AFCAT 2022 will be conducted in February 2022. However, before filling up the form for the exam, it is important to know about the AFCAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria. 

AFCAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the AFCAT eligibility requirements established by the conducting authorities. The following section briefly discusses the AFCAT 2022 eligibility criteria:

AFCAT 1 2022 Age Limit

The upper age restriction varies depending on the position and the candidates’ caste. The table below provides a summary of the various AFCAT age limits for various positions.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical and Technical) Branch 20- 26 years for the Unreserved category.
Flying Branch
  • Candidates having a Commercial Pilot License is relaxed up to 26 years as its upper age limit.
  • Candidates should be between 20 and 24 years.

 

AFCAT 2022 Educational Qualifications

Candidates who wish to apply for AFCAT positions must be Indian citizens. The educational requirements for various positions fluctuate. The IAF establishes the educational requirements for the various branches. Check out the chart below for the AFCAT educational requirements:

Marital Status for AFCAT 2022

  1. The Candidate’s age at the time of application must be less than 25 years old, and he or she must be single.
  2. Divorcees and Widows/Widowers under the age of 25 are also ineligible to take this exam.
  3. During their training time, married applicants above the age of 25 are not permitted to reside with family.
Branch Sub-Branch Educational Qualification
Ground Duty Technical Branch Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) Candidates must have a 10+2-degree with an average of 60 percent marks in Physics and Mathematics, as well as an integrated post-graduation/degree in Technology/Engineering.

OR 

Passed sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India examination by actual studies or Associate Membership in the Institution of Engineers (India) with a minimum aggregate mark of 60% or equivalent in specific subjects as stipulated by IAF.

Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) Passed 10+2 with an aggregate of 60% in Mathematics and Physics, as well as a four-year degree in Technology/Engineering. 

OR 

Passed Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) or Telecommunication Engineers or Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics with a score of 60% in disciplines specified by the examination authority.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches Administration:  Cleared section A&B of the Aeronautical Society of India examination or Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) from a recognised institution with an aggregate of 60% Cleared section A&B of the Aeronautical Society of India examination or Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) from a recognised institution with an aggregate of 60% 

OR

 Graduation in any subject with a minimum of 60%

AFCAT Physical and Medical Standards

Candidates must be physically and medically healthy in order to adequately carry out their obligations and tasks.

Commission Type

 

  1. Permanent Commission (PC) for Men: When they join as a PC officer, the elected candidates must serve until retirement in the specific branch that they are authorised in line with their rank.
  2. SSC (Short Service Commission) for Men and Women:
  • Flying Branch (Men and Women) SSC Officers are contracted for 14 years from the date of commissioning (Non-extendable).
  • Ground Duty (Non-technical and Technical) SSC Officers have a ten-year tenure. However, a four-year extension may be granted depending on appropriateness, availability of openings, desire, service conditions, and merit.
  • Permanent Commission (PC) Grants would be considered based on appropriateness, merit, availability of openings, and desire to serve.
