Changes In The AirForce X & Y Examination Pattern

Trishul Defence Academy would like to inform you about the latest changes in the examination pattern of Air Force X & Y group. Nearly after 3 years, Indian Air force had made these changes in their examination pattern. The First and the most important change is in the categories of different entries that is, the examination is now divided in four categories which is Group X Exam, Group Y Exam, Group Y-Medical Assistant Trade and Group X+Y exam. There is changes in the eligibility criteria as well , Student should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Maths in aggregate and minimum 50% in English as well for Air force X group. For Group Y a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English is mandatory. For Medical Assistant Grade a student should have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Biology & English with not less than 50% in aggregate. Candidate Eligible for group X examination are also eligible for group Y examination and would be given an option of appearing in both Group X and Group Y exam in one sitting.
Applicants who are applying for the post will have to pass three phases of the examination pattern. Phase I will comprise of online Test. Online test will be objective type and question will be bilingual (English & Hindi). Online Test for candidates opting for both Group X & Y shall be conducted in one sitting. Results will be declared after 15 days. Soon after the declaration of the result of Phase I, all candidates Shortlisted will have to face Phase II, comprising of Physical Fitness Test, Adaptability Test-I, Adaptability Test-II. The centre for the Online Test and Physical Fitness Test will be different. PFT would consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed within 6 minutes and 30 seconds. Candidates will also have to complete 10 push ups, 10 sit-ups and 20 Squats within the stipulated time to qualify in the physical Fitness Test. All candidates who will pass the PFT will have to undertake Adaptability Test-I which is basically an objective type written Test to assess suitability of a candidate for employment in the Indian Air Force which involve deployment in varied geographic terrain, whether and operational condition.
All candidates who will pass the Adaptability Test-I will have to undertake Adaptability Test -II. This test is for selecting the candidates who can adapt to the environment of IAF and are able to adjust to the Military way of life. So, basically adaptability test is for testing a student’s psychology. After Adaptability Test phase III of the procedure will begin which contains the Medical test of a candidate.
Those who’ll pass the Adaptability Test will be issued with the medical appointment letter. Medical Test will be conducted by the Air Force Medical Team. Medical Investigation will include Baseline Investigation Of-
- Blood Haemogram
- Urine Test
- X-ray ( Chest)
- ECG &
- Biochemistry, comprising of Blood Sugar Fasting, Serum Cholesterol, Urea, Uric acid, LFT & SGPT.
