Indian Air Force successfully tests 10 ‘Akash’ missiles

Amid tensions with China on the Line of Actual Control, the Indian Air Force is busy increasing its strength day by day. On Friday, the Indian Air Force has successfully tested 10 Akash missiles. Aakash is a medium-range surface-to-air missile defence system developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). These missiles have been manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited.

These missiles were tested at the Suryalanka test range in Andhra Pradesh last week. Most of the Akash missiles fired at the targets hit directly. According to news agency ANI, these missiles are equipped with combined guided weapons, capable of killing enemy aircraft in two moments during the fighting. The Indian Air Force tested Akash missiles and shoulder-to-air missiles during the exercise.

According to reports, both these systems are currently deployed with LACs in East Ladakh and other areas to take out any enemy aircraft for violating Indian air space.

After the testing of the Akash missile, an Air Force official said that Akash is one of the most successful indigenous weapon systems and it will fulfil the defence forces’ desire to fight indigenous weapons. The Akash missile has been upgraded recently and will help it to hit targets with greater ease than before.
