The Union Home Ministry will deploy Volunteers at the four entry and exit gates of North Block in New Delhi on 7 December to collect funds for the families of soldiers who lost their lives on duty or disabled. 7 December is observed as Armed Forces Flag Day and is being funded at the request of the Ministry of Defense.
According to an order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Volunteers will receive donations from people and officials visiting the offices of the Northern Ministry which consists of the key ministries. Officials have been asked to “contribute generously.”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that Armed Forces Flag Day will be celebrated throughout December. “It is our national responsibility to support the families of our security personnel who lost their lives or were injured in line duty.” Armed Forces Flag Day is observed every year from December 1949 on 7 December to honor soldiers, airmen and sailors.
