Russia has stepped up efforts to stop the ongoing war between Armenia and Azerbaijan (Armenia-Azerbaijan War) from 27 September. President Vladimir Putin has declared that peace has been agreed between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the intervention of Russia. Putin also said that Russian peacekeeping forces would be deployed in the area to maintain peace in the war-torn region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Putin said that we hope that this agreement will establish the necessary conditions for a long-lasting and full truce in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Armenia and Azerbaijan have also confirmed this peace deal. After which it is believed that the end of the fight that has been going on for 44 days is near. Armenian Prime Minister Nicholas Pashinyan announced on social media on Tuesday that he had a peace deal with Azerbaijan in Russia’s mediation. After this, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev also confirmed this. Nagorno-Karabakh region leader Araik Harutuyan has also announced that he has signed an agreement for peace.
Armenian Prime Minister Nicholas said that the decision was made based on an in-depth analysis of the war situation and discussion with the best experts in the field. He further said that it is not a victory but also a defeat, as long as you do not consider yourself a loser. We will never consider ourselves defeated and this will be a new beginning of our era of national unity and rebirth. Azerbaijan’s army has inflicted heavy losses on Armenia on the basis of Turkish and Israeli weapons. According to the information, the town of Shushi, located near Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh, has been captured by the Azerbaijani army. Since then, there has been increased concern about the safety of Stepanacert in the Armenian army.
Armenia and Azerbaijan were liberated between 1918 and 1921. Even at the time of independence, there was no special friendship between the two countries due to the border dispute. After the end of the first world war, a third part of these two countries separated the Transcaucasian Federation. Which is now known as Georgia. These three countries joined the Soviet Union in 1922. During this time, the great Russian leader Joseph Stalin gave a part of Azerbaijan (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia. This part was traditionally under the occupation of Azerbaijan but the people living here were of Armenian descent.
