The central government has planned to organize a two-week winter session of Parliament from December 21, 2020. After the results of the Bihar state assembly elections are out on November 10, 2020, a final decision will be taken in this regard.
The Center hopes that by the third week of November, all the formalities in the Bihar Assembly elections including the formation of a new government and swearing in Bihar will be completed.
The winter session of Parliament usually starts in the third week of November. This year this session can be postponed till the third week of December.
This year, the winter session of Parliament is likely to be held between December 21, 2020 and January 2, 2021, while the budget session of Parliament can be held on January 30.
This will not be the first time that the Winter Session of the Parliament of India will start in the month of December and will end in the first week of January. The winter session of the 16th Lok Sabha of India was also held in December which lasted till 08 January 2019. The Parliament met again for the budget session 23 days later.
Although the current dates are temporary, the government will first review the legislative agenda proposed by the ministries and then, take a final decision in this regard.
