SSB is all about your personality, candidates are judged on the basis of the personality traits he has. Accordingly he is recommended or not recommended by SSB. The assessors at the SSB look for the following Officer Like Qualities in any candidate appearing before the Board.
SSB looks for candidates that can lead and inspire soldiers when odds are stacked against them remain calm under pressure and make decisions for the betterment of the country.
In order to ensure that the candidate possesses these traits, he/ she is gauged by assessors from three different testing mechanisms viz. Psychological Test, Group testing, Personal Interview.

Now, to check whether you possess the above mentioned OLQ’s, you need to introspect yourself.
- List down your strengths and weakness: This will help you to identify your caliber and loop holes. An officer always knows about himself in and out. If you have the courage to accept your weaknesses and work upon them, then you are in, you have it in you.
- Know your interest: Have crystal clear views about your interest. An officer knows what he/she likes, having justifiable reasons to support why.If you can justify your thoughts, you have it in you.
- Organizing skills: Take up charge for any event. Try to sort and buffer out things. If you can plan things in an organized and efficient way, you have it in you.
- Confidence: Remove your stage fear and try to address a gathering confidently. If you can influence people with your thought process, you have it in you.
- Liveliness: social adaptabilityand enthusiasm are the keys to hold a positive impact. If you are good at maintaining social relations, you have it in you.
- Determination: take up tasks, complete them with your utmost efforts successfully. If you have the spirit, dedication and love towards your tenure, you have in you.
