During the five day process of the SSB, candidates have to go through different tests given by the three officers i.e. Interviewing Officer, GTO Officer and the Physiological Officer. They test each and every candidate who are present for the SSB exam. Each day candidates have to go through a new type of test such as:
DAY 1:- SCREENING TEST
On the first day of the test candidates have to clear the Officer Intelligence Rating Test (OIRT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT)
- Officer Intelligence Rating Test (OIRT):- In this test candidates are given 70 questions of reasoning (verbal & non-verbal) and have to solve within 30 minutes time.
- Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT):- Candidate will be shown a blur image for 30 seconds & in next 4 minutes they have to write a story on the picture shown for 30 seconds.
- Result:- Result of the day 1 is declared on the same day after all the candidates have given the test. Before 6 pm results are declared and all the students who have qualified the SSB exam Day 1 test have to stay inside the campus for Day 2 and those who are not able to qualify have to leave the campus of SSB exam and go home.
DAY 2:- PSYCHOLOGY TEST
On the second day of the test, candidates who have cleared the test on Day 1 have to go through Psychology test which is divide into 4 steps such as:-
- SRT (Situation Reaction Test) :- A booklet is given to candidates of 60 questions with options and candidates have to tick the right answer
- WAT (Word Association Test) :- Candidate have to write an essay with a word given by them.
- TAT (Thematic Apperception Test):- Candidates will be shown 12 slides of blur images for 30 seconds and then candidates have to write a story on it.
- SDT (Self Description Test):- Candidate have to write about yourself & relations with parents, family, friends and
DAY 3:- GTO ACTIVITIES
- The Group Testing Officers (GTO) activities conducted on the third day which includes various indoor and outdoor activities.
- Group Discussion: – Two group discussions are conducted back to back. The topics of the GD are easy and moderate.
- Progressive Group Task (PGT):- This is an outdoor task. In this task the group has to cross obstacles with the help of the helping material.
- Military Planning Exercise:- In this exercise situation is explained to the group with the help of a model and the group have to reach to a mutual solution with the help of the discussion among themselves.
- Group Obstacle Race / Snake Race:- Group of candidates are made and an inter – group race is conducted. The group as to play like a team and have to win the race.
- Lecturette :- Each candidate have to select a playcard in which around 4 – 5 topics are written. Out of 4 – 5 topics candidate have to choose any one topic and have to lecturette on it
- Half Group Task (HGT):- This task is similar to PGT but in this task a group is divided into two halves.
- Individual Obstacles:- There are 10 Obstacles , each obstacle is allotted marks out of 10. Candidates have to attempt all the 10 obstacles to gain maximum marks in a limit period of time.
- Command Task:- You will be made the commander and will have to choose subordinates to help you cross the obstacles.
- Final Group Task (FGT) :- It is also similar to PGT but the difficulty level in this task is higher than the PGT.
DAY 4:- PERSONAL INTERVIEW
On this day, candidates are called for personal interview with the all the three officers where they are asked 10 – 12 questions related to them. It is mainly done to check the confidance and body language of the candidate.
DAY 5:- RESULT
This is the last day of the SSB exam and on this day a conference is conducted where performance of the candidate is evaluated according to the marks obtained by the candidate. One by one candidates are called and a short discussion takes place where candidate are asked how was the stay? What you have learned during these five days? Etc. After all this result of the candidates are announced. They also motive the candidates for next time. who are not able to qualify the SSB exam.
