Services Selection Board is a board of minimum 3 or more officers who adjudge the candidate for Psychology, GTO (ground testing officer) & IO (interviewing officer).
This board is looking for 15 OLQ (Officer Like Qualities) in a candidate. This complete process takes about 5 days and an additional week or so if the candidate is recommended by the board.
Procedure
- Day 1: Screening Test
- Officer Intelligence Rating Test (OIRT)
- Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT)
- Day 2: Psychological Test
- Day 3: Group Testing Officer Tasks (G.T.O)
- Day 4: Personal Interview
- Day 5: Conference Day
Every necessary item that is to be carried is clearly mentioned in the SSB call letter.
It is often said, ‘First impression is the last impression’.
This sentence has always proved itself right. First impressions are lasting. Once a first impression is made, if it’s less than great, unfortunately it takes a long time to change it. It is said that it takes hardly five and 15 seconds for someone to form a first impression about a person.
Impression can be made with only two things. One is your dressing sense and the other is your behaviour.
When it comes to SSB Interview candidates often neglect the fact of creating a good impression.
One can never clear the SSB Interview with good academics and better physical. It is a good personality and the appearance that makes it easier.
Below mentioned are what dresses to wear for SSB Interview:
- When you have to report, you should be in formals: light coloured shirt and dark trouser, formal shoes and tie. For Sikh candidates it’s better if the colour of your turban and that of your tie is same.
- Once screening is over and assuming you get screened in, next day is for psychological testing. In this the dress code is the same as on the 1st day i.e. the Formals.
- 3rd day is the day for your G.T.O. Task. On this day, you have to report in the white shorts and t-shirt, along with PT shoes and white socks.
- The interview generally demands formals, but if called right after the GTO, you’ll be told not to change and go in the same dress.
- The conference demands formals as this be the day when you have to give your final shot.
Formal dress can be used at the time of screening as well as in personal interview and conference. One must carry minimum 2 sets of formal dress. One set of GTO dress is enough in SSB interview.
In brief, you must carry 3 light coloured shirts, 2 dark trousers, 1white collared t-shirt, 1 white short, 1 tie, 1 blazer (optional), 1 pair of formal shoes, 1 pair of white PT shoes, 3 pair of socks (at least one of them white) and whatever you want to wear while sleeping or hanging out:1Pajama, a t-shirt, and a jeans or two.
