CDS stands for Combined Defence Services. This is an examination conducted at the national level for the young male and female graduates who dream to join Indian Armed Forces.
This is an examination conducted twice a year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment of commissioned officers in Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Exam is basically held in February and September.
Approx 8-10 thousand candidates appear for the examination but not all are fortunate enough to clear the test.
Those who clear the very first step of selection procedure are then called for the SSB Interview. SSB stands for Services Selection Board. SSB Screens the candidates for the Army, Navy and Air Force. SSB Interview is five days long procedure which includes two stages of testing as stage I & stage II.
The two stages cover general aptitude, psychological testing as well as physical and social skills, along with medical tests.
Those who are selected in all the three stages of testing procedure of Combined Defence Services (CDS) go for the further training at Officer’s Training Academy (OTA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA).
