The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has designed a special type of clothing system to save the Indian Army from the troubles of extreme cold weather. The news agency ANI gave this information on Tuesday, quoting the Ministry of Defense. DRDO handed over the technology of Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) to 5 Indian companies, the ministry said. 3-layered ECWCS provides thermal insulation between +15° to -50°C. ECWS is needed by the Indian Army for continuous operations in glaciers and Himalayan peaks.”
The Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) has been designed by the Defense Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) under DRDO. This technique will be of great help to those army personnel, who are deployed in cold places like Ladakh, Sikkim, Kashmir.
This is not the first time that DRDO has developed such a technology for the army. From time to time, she keeps testing indigenous weapons, missiles and other lethal weapons. Earlier on December 23, DRDO had successfully flight-tested the indigenously developed high-speed anti-aircraft missile ‘Abhyasa’ from the Chandipur coast of Odisha.
“During the flight test, a high subsonic speed launcher was demonstrated at very low altitude with high stability,” the DRDO statement said. “The indigenous data link, designed by the Bengaluru-based industry, was successfully flown and tested during the flight,” the statement said.
