India successfully launched Long Range Supersonic Missile Assisted of Torpedoes (SMART) off the coast of Balasore in Odisha today. After this launch, DRDO said that this system has been designed to increase the anti-sub marine warfare capability, far beyond the conventional range of torpedoes. It is a system in which torpedoes are accompanied by missiles.
SMART is a type of anti-ship missile, in which a torpedo of low weight is applied. This torpedo is used as a payload. With the power of both of these, it becomes an anti-submarine missile. With this, where the power of the missile is available, as well as the power to destroy the submarine with the help of torpedoes, it also goes today. However, the correct estimate has not been made about its range yet. With this, the Indian Navy can have war power and destroyer in the sea.

The country also has an anti-submarine torpedo named Varunastra, which has the power to target enemy submarines with the help of GPS. If compared to the Smart Varunastra, then it is quite light. DRDO has been very active for a long time in the midst of tension in Ladakh with China.
