Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit the Line of Actual Control on November 18 to inaugurate the newly constructed Rezang La War Memorial in Ladakh. The war memorial has been renovated by the Indian Army. Rajnath Singh will arrive here on the 59th anniversary of the Battle of Rezang La and will also review the current situation along the LAC. During this, Defense Minister Rajnath will also inaugurate a newly renovated war memorial to honor the 114 Indian soldiers who were martyred in the 1962 Battle of Rezang La.
The new war memorial at Rezang La, which will be inaugurated by the Defense Minister, was earlier a very small monument in Rezang La in eastern Ladakh, but has now been renovated and made much bigger. Now the general public including tourists will be allowed to visit the monument and border areas. CDS General Bipin Rawat will also be present here along with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. During this, the Defense Minister will also review the steps being taken by the soldiers for operational preparedness, especially during the harsh winter.

The history of Rezang La is full of bravery and courage. This place became such a witness to the bravery of Indian soldiers that it was recorded in the pages of history. On 18 November 1962, 120 soldiers from 13 Kumaon of the Indian Army killed 1,300 Chinese soldiers under the leadership of Major Shaitan Singh. Suddenly, the Indian contingent of 120 soldiers stationed there, led by Major Shaitan Singh, responded to the attack by 5000 Chinese soldiers and 1300 Chinese soldiers were killed. Later, 114 Indian soldiers were also martyred and the remaining 6 soldiers were taken captive by China. However, later all the 6 jawans returned after escaping.
