The Central Government has appointed Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar as the next Navy Chief. He is currently the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. He will take over his new office on November 30. The Ministry of Defense has given this information.
The current Navy Chief, Admiral Karambir will retire from service on November 30, 2021. The Defense Ministry said that Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar has been appointed by the government as the next Chief of Naval Staff. Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar is currently the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.
According to the Defense Ministry, he will take over the command of the Navy on November 30 after the retirement of the current Chief of the Navy, Admiral Karambir Singh. Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar PVSM, AVSM, VSM was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1983.

About Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar
• Vice Admiral R. Hari Kumar’s C command includes INS Nishank, Missile Corvette, INS Kora and Guided Missile Destroyer INS Ranvir.
• He also commanded the Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He has served as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet.
• Before taking over as the FOC-in-C of the Western Naval Command, he was the head of the Integrated Staff Committee of Headquarters IDS.
