Lieutenant Yogesh Tripathi, a resident of Balipur Parsan of Jethwara police station area, was recruited as a lieutenant commander in the Navy in the year 2001. At present, he had gone to Chamoli district of Uttarakhand for mountaineering. Where on October 2, a team of 10 members had to climb the 15000 feet Trishul hill.

It is being told that there was a landslide in Chamoli. Two days ago suddenly Yogesh got separated from his team. The team members were looking for him with the help of the local administration. His body was found buried under the debris of a landslide late Saturday evening. When the news of this reached his ancestral home, there was uproar. His body is expected to reach by Sunday. After the incident, there is silence in the martyr’s village.

The risk of landslides is increasing continuously in the hill districts of Uttarakhand. According to the latest seven-year data, the number of landslides has increased by more than 10 times. Some years have also passed when these incidents were up to thirty times more. Scientists attribute the increase in landslides to changes in rainfall patterns in mountainous regions and changes in the shape and slope of mountains due to human activities. According to the records of DMMC, only 33 incidents were recorded in the year 2015. Whereas in the year 2018, this number had reached 496, and by the year 2020, the number of these incidents had reached 972. So far this year, 132 landslides have been recorded.
